Implied Spaces: Cup Song Berens River, Canada

Canada’s treatment of First Nations is based on Implied Space, culturally, politically and economically . This space has been ignored or misrepresented in  Canadian Mass Media for generations. This includes educational text, government policy statements, popular entertainment, and the news media .

Gradual change has taken place, much of it in the last decade. True representation can only occur  when First Nations make use of modern Mass Media themselves. The Cup Song video from Berens River First Nation students is such an example.
