I sometimes generate new compositions by blending together two or three pieces to create a sequence. Other times the new composition works better as another type of media genre & using a different set of codes & conventions, such as moving from postcard to greeting card or poster.

      1. It reminds me of some screen printing I did some years ago – I’d paint the screen, make three or four prints. Wash off the screen, repaint, make three or four prints. Wash off, repaint, this time use a couple of prints from the two earlier groups. Then repeat and repeat until I had a group of prints that had resemblances and some common ancestry, but none were alike. This sounds to me akin to what you were doing here, maybe. I do like how you develop a family of works that cohere.
