Stump dreams

brown spring
moss leaf
falling tall
above soil
stone bark
growing cracks
between sky
earth water
roots fly
upward down
endless final
growth death
tomorrow seeds
yesterday leaves
behind scent
flower bud
moment wakes
path petal
stamen stalk
shadows grow
small trees
Implied Spaces 
I dig that line, “falling tall.” Creates a lot of imagery in my mind. Specifically the idea of the Earth as a sphere and a giant tree pointing downward in space. Only from the reference point of the surface does it appear upward. But the surrealist in me likes the idea of inverting the tree. Maybe like the tree of life, “as above, so below.”
Thanks very much. I wasn’t specifically thinking of the tree of life, but the connection is quite valid. I had in mind the cyclical nature of life & seasons and how above/below mirror each other. 🙂
